Snug Harbor Farm – Nursery & Garden Center, Kennebunk, Maine
One of my favorite places to visit on the Maine coast is Kennebunkport and Kennebunk. The summer home of former President of the US., G.H.W. Bush. Over crowded in the summer, crowded during foliage season, somewhat peaceful and desolate in the winter while the spring can be a mixed bag depending on the weather and temperatures. Part time businesses begin to open by the middle of April and one of those is Snug Harbor Farm, a wonderful nursery with a wide array of greenhouse plants, large and small nursery stock, an aviary, a pond with swans, 2 large poodles and friendly helpful people.
There is a wonderful garden shop filled with an exhaustive variety of items for your garden, atrium, patio and water garden. Scattered around the nursery, some between the greenhouses, are an array of containers & urns, (large and small) and pots for all your deck, porch and atrium needs.
- You can find Snug Harbor Farm Nursery & Garden Center on Route 9 (87 Western Avenue) in Kennebunk, Maine. The beaches of Kennebunkport, Kennebunk and Goose Rocks (where my family used to spend part of the summer) are but a stone’s throw from the nursery. Tidal inlets can be found just across the road and the garden center is just down the road from a wonderful restaurant , Bistro On The Marsh.
Phone: 207-967-2414 Email: info@snugharborfarm.com Website and Blog: Snug Harbor Farm - I recently purchased a large heron fountain at the garden shop at Snug Harbor Farm Nursery & Garden Center.
- The heron is made of cast bronze and spews water from the beak in a downward direction. There is another heron fountain that stands taller and spews water horizontally out of the heron’s beak. This fountain will be the centerpiece of our new water garden we are planning for our own house. The heron will stand in the lower pond below a waterfall and cascading stream. The water garden design and installation will be part of a future ‘How To’ video project.
- The photo of the heron fountain was cropped from a photo of the interior of the garden shop from the Snug Harbor Farm website. I figured it was ok since I bought the fountain.
- One more photo from the garden center grounds. Click on any photo to see an enlarged version.Photos are property of landscapenewengland.com
